#BehindThewindow: Leilani Pearson

From Tahiti to Maui. Custom Specialty Leis - Gardenia Farmer. Leilani showed me the art of creating magic from nature. To live the life you love. Learned about the true meaning of Aloha, like not just a saying, like about a feeling. Like about giving, sharing, respecting, understanding Love and Nature.

How would you define yourself in three words?

Oh that’s a hard one:

1-happy

2-relaxed

3-blessed

How do you start your day?

I put on my rain boots and walk outside with a cup of Mate tea and feed my chickens.

My dogs and cats follow me and I usually get stuck attending my flower plants or something like that.

How it is look like your favorite view from behind the window right now?

My favorite view from behind the window in my whole house is right in front of my bed.

My bedroom is on the edge of a cliff, overlooking a large rain forest. The sun rises just over the far mountain and illuminates my whole room with it’s beautiful pink and orange colors. The large, old trees sway in the wind and make sounds that are so unique.

And the birds fly and sing outside my window. I call my room the birds nest, because it really feels like I’m hanging in a tree. It’s a blessing!

your favorite time of the day?

My favorite time of the day is probably in the evening, after a nice hard long day of working on the land, I look forward to that cup of hot tea, sitting in my bean bag in the middle of my living room, next to the glass fireplace.

Yes we do have a fireplace in Hawaii, which most people think is odd, but it gets rather chilly in the winter. We live on the slopes of Haleakala and the cold wind travels down the valleys.

So we run our fireplace often, plus the weather is so wet in Haiku, that we like to keep the house dry and free from mold and moisture.

When are you the most inspired?

I get easily inspired and motivated. I’m just one of those really ambitious kind of person. Sometimes I even get too ambitious and think really big!

I have noticed though that I get inspired a lot in the middle of the night. I wake up a lot in the night and my mind won’t stop thinking about the things I could do or create.

So I do come up with a lot of solutions and ideas in my half asleep state. And if I feel I need to stop thinking and get back to sleep, I have a mantra that I’ve used for many years now.

It works great and usually puts me right back bed. I just repeat over and over again: Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, Abundance.

What makes you smile the most?

My family makes me smile the most. I have 2 daughters, age 3 and 7. They are my true happiness!

Yes of course it’s a lot of work being a mom and I don’t feel like I have any time for myself, ever! But they fulfill my heart and soul like anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. And my husband too, he supports me like no other and I feel very grateful and blessed to have since a loving family.

What are the three things you can’t live without?

Hum:

1 - my family

2 - the ocean

3 - traveling

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Not to take anything personally

What are you currently reading?

I’m actually currently reading 2 books at the same time.

1- Hippie by Paulo Coelho

2-Miracle Morning by Hal Rod

What would you advise a person who comes to Hawaii?
